I’m two weeks behind because I moved and hadn’t unpacked my card reader for my camera! Whoops. I just dug it out, so I’ll be making two posts in the next two days, one from two weeks ago (this post), and a second one with my trip to Chicago and Michigan (to be posted soon!).
Two weeks ago, Mikey came up for a day to move a bunch of his things. It was nice to see him, however briefly, because it had been a few weeks.

We all went to a potluck at Karen’s house that night.

Karen’s cat, Ender – my favorite cat!

My roommates, Bonnie and Laura, and Mikey. Mikey was being very hyper that night. It was fun.

Stripes.

Not stripes. I think Laura took this. Laura likes to use my camera, which I like because then I’m actually in photos sometimes.

Maximillian.

Lobster, Mich’s dog.

Bonnie subtly restraining Valentine, Karen and Peter’s dog.

Maddie and Mich came over with a cake for Karen’s birthday!

Back at home, I caught Rover blinking. It made this weird photo.

Mikey and I spent the next day at the movies to avoid the heat.

The last big thing I did at my old house before moving was clean up the garden.

Mikey headed back to DC and I spent the next two days packing up the last of my things.

The following weekend (two weekends ago), Max and Will helped me move into my new house. I took Max out for a thankyou/birthday dinner at Aksum.

I used the next two days to completely settle in my room because I can’t get any work done if I don’t have a settled space. I’m slightly neurotic sometimes.

My first breakfast at my new home, which is called Swoon City.

Rover has three new cat friends. This is Albert, the one who Rover actually is buddies with. The other two are Lucy and Pippa but they don’t come around much. Albert is pretty funny and really personable.

I love my new room. It has huge windows and a view of a busy street which is a fun change of pace. I’ve had to get used to the street noises a little bit, but people watching is fun.

I’ll have an additional room as my studio once a subletter moves out on September 1st. For now, I have some of my studio stuff in my bedroom. It’s a little more crowded than I normally keep my room.

The Monday after I moved in, my friends from Chicago came through on a zine tour. We went to Blackbird for vegan pizza.

and then Grindcore House for Vegan Treats.

Then they all read at Wooden Shoe Books. It was really fun to see them read. I’ve seen all of them read several times in the past few years (with the exception of Heather, who just started doing readings), and it’s rad to see them “develop,” as artists, in a weird way. I have inspiring friends. This is Jen, who also plays in the Ambulars.

This is Leslie.

After the reading, we just came back to my place and ate ice cream and Jen read Leslie’s Tarot.

At Satellite for breakfast the next morning.

about to pose.

Later that day (Tuesday of last week), Mikey and Bradley moved the rest of their things up to Philly in a moving truck. There’s been a lot of moving of things this month but it’s finally allll done.

That night I dropped Rover at Karen and Peter’s to be dog sat for the week because I was flying out of town the next morning. Rover has a great time at Karen and Peter’s because their dog likes to play a lot. Rover doesn’t get much dog socialization these days so it’s nice for him. Thanks Karen and Peter!

I’ll post the next week in a separate post so this isn’t too long!

What I always love about your photos is that they seem so … honest. Don’t know how to describe it. They just have such a “real” vibe to them.
What camera/lens/settings do you use, if I may ask?
I use a Panasonic Lumix GF1, usually at F1.8 on aperture priority mode since I just do quick snapshots. It doesn’t render color very well in low light settings, which is why I often opt to shoot in black and white in those circumstances, because the black and white setting is so vivid and rich. It’s a great alternative.
Thanks!
