I almost didn’t take any photos throughout the week because I just worked. I worked full-time as a nanny and also babysat 3 of the 5 weeknights after work. It was exhausting but I was preventatively trying to store away some money because I’m taking a week off soon to go to Michigan! I did snap a few photos on my phone from things throughout the week. One night Laura and I made some Halloween decorations for our house. We’re having a Halloween party so we’re trying to get ready.

Early in the morning when I wake up for work, it’s cold and dark.

I worked late Friday night so Mikey and I just stayed in and watched Project Runway and went to bed kind of early. On Saturday morning, we went to brunch at Sabrina’s with Mike. We all got an omelet but shared one order of this huge stuffed challah french toast. The serving size is massive so the best way thing to do is get it and share it between the table as a big breakfast dessert. Sabrina’s had a really clever Halloween themed specials menu. Our french toast was made to look bloody with berry sauce. It had some name having to do with the movie Carrie. The whole menu was called Breakfast Chainsaw Massacre.

The rest of the day, Mikey and I worked on projects at Ultimo, before heading to a reading at the Wooden Shoe.

and then to see Sundials at the Golden Tea House.

The bands were staying at Mikey’s house, so we planned to have a fire in the yard afterward.

Lots of people from the show ended up coming and it was pretty fun.

Me and Mikey. I’m fiddling with my earring hole. I used to have plugs so there’s still evidence.

Max was out of town for the past month on a roadtrip with his dog Sprocket. He’s back for five days before going traveling a little more. Rover was really happy to play with his pal, Sprocket, again.

Sundials and Caves leaving the next morning for their next stop on tour.

I came home to find in the mail that my dad sent me the newsprint version of my best friend Daniel’s book, Blisner, Ill. My dad and his wife were able to go to the exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Photography last week in Chicago. It was a nice surprise to get it in the mail.

Sunday we worked on projects some more, but took a break to enjoy the weather and collect sticks for front porch Halloween decorations. We found a surprising amount of large branches that will be really useful. The neighborhood kids kept seeing us walk back and forth with arm loads of sticks, so naturally curious, they asked what we were up to and then got really excited about helping us find sticks for the porch. It was really cute.

After collecting sticks, my roommates and I talked about making plans for the Halloween party. We also brainstormed Halloween costumes for Rover which led to this.

Golden hour nap.

Sunday evening, Mike had a potluck at his house.

Jared was there too.

Mikey and I made these little pastry things with fancy soft cheese and cooked asparagus. They were tasty.

My clothes were really smokey after this weekend.
