Early morning last week, Amy had spent the weekend in Philly and made us all fancy coffee.

Ohh la la

The beginning of the week was spent continuing to work through projects and get ready for things. I alternated between spending time filling out kickstarter orders, helping Mikey put together his new room, and getting ready to go out of town. Mikey was also getting ready to go on a short tour with the Ambulars.

We did take some time out of working on stuff to go see the Stephan Sagmesiter “Happy Show” exhibit at the Institute of Contemporary Art. It was such a good show and if you have a chance to see it somewhere, be sure to!

Then it was back to tasks. Days and days of working on kickstarter stuff.

Jen got to town for tour and I was glad to get to hang with her for a bit.

Dog days of summer.

The first Ambulars show was in Philly with Delay.

I decided to go to their second show too, which was in DC! I rode down with them, and took the megabus back home to Philly the next day. We got caught in traffic and some people had to take care of business.

We got to DC and hung out at our friends’ house, the Menagerie.

Lizz, my old Philly roommate, lives there now and is in school at the Aveda Inst. learning salon stuff. They spent the week giving haircuts/styles to people.

The infamous pizza pillow, which has made appearances in many Menagerie photos.

Max was roaddog for the Ambulars tour.

Broody.

Anne and Andy at dinner.

After dinner and before the show, Amy took me over to Peregrine to make me more fancy coffee! Amy just got a job at Peregrine.

I think this show at Comet was the best I’ve ever heard the Ambulars play. Maybe because the sound system was so good, but they were dead on.

They played with Hop Along, and Delay again. It was a really solid show.

And lots of rad DC folks were there. I’ll miss visiting DC all the time now that Mikey isn’t there.

After the show we went to Ben’s Chili Bowl, a classic DC post-show hangout spot.

and then we headed over to hang out at the monuments, which I had always heard was really nice to do at night but had never done before.

Lots of people I really like.

Some golden light, caught by Mikey.

Nick Popo came up with a game where you had to try to shimmy around the edge of a pillar without falling off. It was surprisingly difficult! Soon people were being timed trying to race by three pillars. Lots of people attempted, one person wiped out pretty hard, I was reeally slow but got by all three pillars, and Mikey was fastest with 23 seconds. I think Austin, from Delay, came in second with 28 seconds.

It was really funny.

In the morning, at the Menagerie.
