West Philly has always been beautiful, charming, etc but recently it’s turned into a place that I’m really glad to be a part of. I’m settling in to a good crew of friends and a social group that feels like my own. It makes me feel like socializing much more often.
Here’s some of that, from the first week of August.
Hanging out behind Dahlak.

Laura behind the camera, which happens often now.

Mikey and Laura. Mikey moved up here with Brad and now that our houses are both mostly filled, it feels like a new start for my West Philly.

Dahlak has karaoke every Tuesday night, with a pretty dedicated group of regulars. It’s pretty fun to go watch. Maybe one day I’ll even participate.

I don’t know how it happened, but Will was convinced to Hulk Out of his tshirt, and suddenly Will was wearing a shirt torn in half. He was pretty embarrassed about it.

Mornings

I feel like I don’t often get a good shot of Rover’s different colored eyes. Here’s a good one though!

On Friday night, we rode our bikes up to Fishtown to go to an outdoor show as a grand opening for a specialty ice cream shop that a Philly punk dude opened. It was a really beautiful night.

Katie Crutchfield played as Waxahatchee.

Then Swearin’ played.

After the show, we walked over to check out the ice cream shop. There was a line out the door all night long. Laura commandeered my camera again to pass the time in line. Here’s my roommate, Bonnie.

Friends in line

I wish I remembered what was going on here.

Or here

or here. Just kidding.

But really, here. Who knows.

Good vs. Evil.

“Okay, now make a funny face for this one.”
